Australia, and Western Australia in particular, are known for their beautiful, vast and rugged landscapes. It is possible to drive great distances without seeing another vehicle or meeting a single person. However, there will be plenty of wildlife or wandering stock around so it is crucial to remain aware as animal strikes are a common occurrence on WA rural roads.

Bullbars and Roobars were developed in an attempt to address the ever-present threat of animal strikes in outback and rural areas. In the event of an animal strike a vehicle can often be completely incapacitated if there is no “frontal protection system”, leaving occupants stranded, sometimes kilometres, from the nearest assistance.

When it comes to vehicle frontal protection systems, Perth motorists have come to rely on bullbars and roobars to ensure they can drive with confidence when on country roads.  Bullbars can be aesthetically pleasing or add a particularly rugged look to a vehicle, but they are primarily installed to protect your motoring investment and for safety reasons.

There are various options to choose from when it comes to the style of bar work to suit your requirements. From the basic nudgebar, to roobars and bullbars and the enormous truckbar, all to meet a designated purpose when fitted to your car, ute, SUV, 4WD or truck.

Bullbars – If you intend to travel off-road often and in areas where wildlife or wandering livestock could be a concern a bullbar would be suggested as it offers you maximum protection from impact. Bullbars are the most common barwork we offer and available for the most vehicle models.

Nudge Bars – If intending to keep your vehicle in urban areas, then a nudge bar will give you protection from minor accidents and any frontal bumps. They are also a great place to fit some auxiliary lighting. Nudgebars are constructed from lightweight tubing and are designed to provide minimal protection against minor front-end collisions, scratches and bumps.

A nudge bar is generally fitted to sedans and small SUV’s and also offer a platform to mount some accessories such as driving lights and CB antennas and are the lightest form of front-end protection available for a wide range of commercial and recreational vehicles.  Nudgebars are sometimes not considered as “proper” bull bars because they are not directly secured to the chassis as there is no need to take off or alter the bumper.

Roo Bars – Roobars are a product that is getting less and less popular as they usually look like a set of glasses on the front of a vehicle. Occasional country road drivers can benefit from these as they can be easily removed, leaving your vehicle in almost original condition. Roobars were invented to provide bumper and headlight frontal protection that’s reliable, while being lighter and not as robust as a full on bullbar.

When bar work is fitted, it can mean the difference between your vehicle being totally wrecked or still being drivable, allowing you to get to safety and repairs. Bullbars can save lives, time and money on costly repairs.
